Job Summary
The Institutional Advisory Business Development Manager will wholly own the growth of assets under management for GuideStone’s institutional OCIO advisory business. Our ideal candidate is a natural networker who thrives at building meaningful relationships, uncovering investment needs and identifying appropriate solutions — the outcome of which will be a robust sales pipeline and consistent flow of requests for proposal from high-value prospects. The individual in this role will have full access to GuideStone’s portfolio management, investment compliance and client relationship teams, and will also collaborate cross-functionally with sales and service professionals in other parts of the enterprise. Moreover, this person will provide strategic leadership to our sales and marketing processes as we seek to promote our world-class investment products to like-minded evangelical ministries.
What You'll Do
Business Development:
Identify and engage prospective institutional clients (e.g., colleges and universities, seminaries, mission-sending organizations, etc.).
Develop and execute a sales strategy for the short- and long-term growth of the business.
Lead prospect meetings / finals presentations and attend industry conferences to establish and grow relationships.
Product Expertise:
Develop in-depth knowledge of the enterprise’s investment strategies and advisory solutions to meet the rapidly changing OCIO marketplace.
Articulate the enterprise's investment philosophy, service model, and market outlook to potential institutional advisory clients.
Collaborate with other members of the advisory team to tailor presentations.
Sales Target Achievement:
Meet or exceed sales targets for AUM growth.
Regularly report on sales pipeline, prospective client activity, and performance against targets.
Proactively manage the sales process, from initial contact to contract negotiation and closure.
Market Research & Industry Knowledge:
Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions that impact institutional investments.
Use market insights to identify new business opportunities and refine sales strategies.
Engage with thought leadership to represent the enterprise’s viewpoint on relevant market developments.
Collaboration:
Partner with internal stakeholders, including product development, marketing, and operations, to deliver a best-in-class prospect experience.
Work with the advisory client service team to ensure a smooth transition through the new client integration process.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of experience in institutional sales within asset management, investment banking, or a related field is highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with institutional prospects and clients.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and institutional products.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
