The Associate Portfolio Manager provides fiduciary investment leadership for the implementation, management and ongoing oversight of client portfolios and facilitates the GuideStone Advisors Investment Committee’s decision-making in alignment with the firm’s long-term, faith-based investment philosophy. This role delivers disciplined investment recommendations and serves as a trusted resource to advisors and advisory clients by translating complex investment topics into clear, actionable guidance while partnering with the GuideStone Advisors team (including operations and compliance) to ensure consistent implementation.

What You'll Do

 

GuideStone Advisors Investment Committee Leadership

  • Set meeting agendas and annual priorities

  • Drive and coordinate investment research

  • Develop and present investment recommendations

  • Facilitate informed discussion and constructive debate

  • Ensure timely documentation of decisions and compliance records

  • Communicate investment related topics clearly to advisors and internal stakeholders

 

Portfolio Oversight and Investment Strategy

  • Implement portfolios within the firm’s long-term, strategic investment philosophy focused on maximizing risk-adjusted returns while applying faith-based investment screens

  • Provide thoughtful research and recommendations where enhancements or refinements may improve client outcomes

  • Research and recommend usage of available investments for our advisory clients

  • Provide leadership on the selection and ongoing due diligence of our third-party managed separately managed accounts (SMAs)

  • Conduct/support portfolio construction, risk management, and strategy alignment

  • Support future expansion into other investments such as alternative investments

  • Partner with operations, trading, and compliance teams to ensure investment decisions are implemented accurately and consistently

 

Advisor & Client Support

  • Serve as a trusted investment resource (e.g. implementation and portfolio management) for the firm’s advisors

  • Support advisors in explaining portfolio construction, investment philosophy, portfolio positioning, and market dynamics to clients

  • Participate directly in select client meetings, particularly for higher-net-worth households or more complex investment situations

  • Contribute to investment commentary, outlooks, and internal education

 

What You'll Need

  • 6+ years of relevant, progressive work experience required.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Investment research and due diligence.

    • Portfolio analysis, construction, implementation and management.

    • Presenting investment recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • CFA designation strongly preferred.

    • Advanced progress toward CFA or other relevant credentials (CFP®, MBA) considered.

  • Strong analytical rigor paired with sound investment judgment.

  • Ability to balance conviction with openness to debate and collaboration.

  • Experience operating within a multi-entity investment governance structure where strategy, philosophy and implementation responsibilities are separated.

  • Clear, confident communicator with both technical depth and client/advisor-friendly language.

  • High integrity and alignment with our faith-based mission.

  • Comfortable operating in a growing, dynamic environment where structure and scale continue to evolve.

  • Proficient skills in MS Office and appropriate GuideStone system applications.

  • Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.
